Paper Returns

Tax booklets and forms are mailed during the first week of January to most New Jersey households that previously filed paper returns. If you have not received your booklet by the second week in February, or if you do not expect to receive a booklet, you can request one by:

Phone – Call our automated phone line at 1-800-323-4400 (within NJ, NY, PA, DE and MD) or 609-826-4400 (from anywhere).

Email – Tell us your name, mailing address, the tax form and/or instructions, and tax year (e.g., 2019 Resident Income Tax booklet) that you need.

In Person – Visit the Regional Information Center nearest to you to pick up a copy of the forms and instructions. Normal hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except State holidays.

We will send one copy of a tax form to a person. Multiple copies will not be provided. Forms and instructions are available online and can be photocopied. Public sites, such as libraries and post offices, do not have paper copies of the tax forms and instructions

Note: The nonresident return instruction booklet, (NJ-1040NR) is no longer being printed. Forms and instructions are available online.
